A Long Awaited Post…

So, I’ve not updated my blog since I created this website back in April which is absolutely shocking. Since then, a lot has gone on and I have actually become a full time musician. I had been working as a Steel worker and a Printer for the past 20 years with performing in-between here and there. But since May, I have actually bit the bullet and thought let’s do this. I’ve recently turned 40, and you know what? You’ve only got one life and what’s the worst that can happen? i’ve jumped in two feet first and gone for it being the musician I’ve long awaited to become. With having a mortgage and all that, plus a house of 6 people… a very busy lifestyle, I know! But the risk in my eyes has definitely been worth it.

I have been so lucky living where I do on the Wirral, as i’m so close to Liverpool and other popular North West Venues for gigs. The majority of my work I get is in Liverpool and I have met some fantastic people along the wa. Locally, and from all over the world. From other musicians travelling all over the north west to perform in pubs and clubs in Liverpool, to tourists coming from all over such as the U.S, Turkey, Spain, Argentina, Japan, Germany to name a few. Either checking out the Cavern, the performing home of The Beatles or visiting Anfield, one of the biggest football clubs in the world….. or Everton at Goodison Park 🤔

I’ve been super busy peroming near enough everyday, funnily enough mainly as a cover musician for other artists who are either unwell or literally need a break from having so many gigs the previous evening. I think Liverpool is a really unique place to live as a musician. I don’t know anywhere else in the world (not that I have been everywhere, so correct me if I’m wrong) that has as much live music in one place. Every single day from midday to 2am you can find a live musician. Either a solo performer, a duo or even a band on a Monday night is unheard of in most places. Liverpool at times can be the city that never sleeps!

So, i’m hoping to continue with my blogs and updating with my whereabouts and what i’ve done to hopefully inspire other people who are either thinking about becoming a full time musician or are considering coming over to Liverpool to give it a try.

My only advice is be persistent and keep up with the positive thoughts, you’ve got to keep at it no matter how you feel. Let that drive keep going in the back of your mind. Always come up with new ideas how you can improve, whether it’s learning songs, recording music or producing a promo video.

Watch other musicians, do your homework - see what other people are doing and keep an eye on what works and what doesn’t.

Don’t stop! There’s so much to do and there is always room for improvement no matter how good you think you may be.

Here’s to being a full time musician 🍻
